Alprazolam (Xanax) is a Schedule IV controlled substance in the US but faces much stricter treatment internationally. The UAE, Japan, and Singapore require prior government authorization before importing benzodiazepines including alprazolam. Travelers have been arrested at UAE airports for possessio. Enforcement in Thailand carries fines from THB 5,000 to THB 500,000 under Customs Act B.E. 2560 (2017) s.202, s.242 (typical personal cases are handled as civil infringements).

Leaving Thailand with xanax / alprazolam
Alprazolam is a Schedule IV controlled substance in the US and equivalent schedules in most other jurisdictions. Personal-use quantities accompanied by the prescription and doctor's letter are generally permitted for export under Narcotics Act B.E. 2522; Thai FDA export permit. Above these limits, an Thai FDA export permit for scheduled drugs is required in advance. Destination-country rules on benzodiazepine import are more restrictive in UAE, Saudi Arabia, Japan, and several other jurisdictions — verify independently before travel.
