Full details

Adderall in Thailand is a Category I psychotropic substance under the Psychotropic Substances Act — manufacture, sale, and import are tightly controlled. Travelers must obtain Thai FDA pre-approval (filed at least 14 days before travel) supported by the prescription, doctor's letter, and an Embassy Letter of Authentication. Without pre-approval, Adderall is seized at the Red Channel.

PENALTIES

  • Fine: 5000–500000 THB
  • Civil penalty only

ENFORCEMENT

ActiveCustoms actively enforces this rule.

At the airport

  1. STEP 1Adderall is prohibited under Thailand's Narcotics Act B.E. 2522. If you arrive with it, proceed to the Red Channel at Suvarnabhumi or Don Mueang.
  2. STEP 2Declare the medication and present your home-country prescription. Thai customs officers will inspect the medication.
  3. STEP 3Expect confiscation and possible referral to the Thai Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) or Royal Thai Police. Cooperate fully and contact your embassy if detained.

TRANSIT EXCEPTION

Not permitted even in transit. Thailand's strict narcotics laws apply to all persons in Thai territory. Adderall (amphetamine salts) is prohibited under the Narcotics Act B.E. 2522. Transit passengers at Suvarnabhumi or Don Mueang are not exempt from this prohibition.

Leaving Thailand with adderall (medication)

RESTRICTEDAdderall (dextroamphetamine/amphetamine mixed salts) is a controlled stimulant in Thailand and is subject to personal-export limits for prescribed users.

Adderall is a Schedule II controlled substance in the US and equivalent schedules in most other jurisdictions. Personal-use quantities (typically a 30-90 day supply) accompanied by the prescription and doctor's letter are generally permitted for export under Narcotics Act B.E. 2522; Thai FDA export permit. Above these limits, an Thai FDA export permit for scheduled drugs is required in advance. Travellers should note that some destination countries (Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, UAE, Saudi Arabia among others) restrict Adderall import even when export is permitted from the origin — always verify the destination-side rules independently.
