Recreational drones in South Korea are regulated by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) under the Aviation Safety Act. Drones over 250g require online registration with the Korea Office of Civil Aviation; flights above 150m or near airports / Cheong Wa Dae require advance permission. Personal-use import is allowed; declaration encouraged for devices over KRW 6 million (general personal-effects allowance).

Personal consumer drones (DJI Mini/Mavic class) are generally exportable from South Korea as consumer electronics. Higher-performance drones (extended range, heavy payload, thermal imaging) may fall under dual-use export controls (Wassenaar Arrangement implementations). The sharper constraint is destination-side: many countries require registration or permits for drone import and several prohibit it at various times — verify the arrival rule for the same route before travelling. Batteries follow cabin-carriage lithium rules.
