Full details

Brazil requires all drones to be registered with ANAC (Civil Aviation Agency) and ANATEL (telecommunications regulator). Foreign visitors can register online. No-fly zones include airports, military areas, and indigenous territories. Maximum altitude 120m in uncontrolled airspace. Enforcement in Brazil carries fines from BRL 500 to BRL 50,000 under Decreto-Lei 37/1966; Regulamento Aduaneiro (Decreto 6.759/2009); Código Penal Art. 334 (typical personal cases are handled as civil infringements).

PENALTIES

  • Fine: 500–50000 BRL
  • Civil penalty only

Leaving Brazil with consumer drone

RESTRICTEDConsumer drones may generally be exported from Brazil for personal use; higher-specification drones face dual-use controls and many destinations restrict drone import.

Personal consumer drones (DJI Mini/Mavic class) are generally exportable from Brazil as consumer electronics. Higher-performance drones (extended range, heavy payload, thermal imaging) may fall under dual-use export controls (Wassenaar Arrangement implementations). The sharper constraint is destination-side: many countries require registration or permits for drone import and several prohibit it at various times — verify the arrival rule for the same route before travelling. Batteries follow cabin-carriage lithium rules.

PRACTICAL ADVICE

Register with both ANAC and ANATEL before flying. Many tourist areas (Iguaçu, Christ the Redeemer) are restricted.
