Alprazolam (Xanax) is a Schedule IV controlled substance in the US but faces much stricter treatment internationally. The UAE, Japan, and Singapore require prior government authorization before importing benzodiazepines including alprazolam. Travelers have been arrested at UAE airports for possessio. Enforcement in Germany carries fines from EUR 250 to EUR 5,000 under Abgabenordnung § 378; Zollverwaltungsgesetz (typical personal cases are handled as civil infringements).

Leaving Germany with xanax / alprazolam
Alprazolam is a Schedule IV controlled substance in the US and equivalent schedules in most other jurisdictions. Personal-use quantities accompanied by the prescription and doctor's letter are generally permitted for export under Betäubungsmittelgesetz § 4; Schengen Convention Art. 75 medication travel certificate. Above these limits, an Schengen Article 75 certificate is required in advance.
