Testosterone is a Schedule 4 (Prescription Only) medicine under the Australian Poisons Standard. Travelers may personally import up to 3 months' supply (per the TGA Personal Importation Scheme) when carrying a valid prescription and original labelled packaging. Anabolic agents (including testosterone) are additionally listed in Schedule 10 of the ABF's Controlled Medications Schedule — importation requires a TGA Authorised Prescriber approval where the treatment exceeds the standard 3-month personal-import window.

Personal-use quantities for legitimate hormone therapy, accompanied by the prescription and doctor's letter, are generally permitted for export from Australia. Injectable formulations should stay in pharmacy packaging with needles documented. Quantities beyond personal-use supply are treated as trafficking; a TGA export permit for schedule 8 substances above threshold is required for above-personal quantities.
