Leaving Malaysia with kratom

Malaysia controls kratom (Mitragyna speciosa) under its drugs legislation (Dangerous Drugs Act 1952). Because possession is unlawful, there is no personal-export pathway — kratom found at departure screening is seized and the traveller risks prosecution. Most neighbouring and destination jurisdictions also control kratom; do not carry it across any border without verifying both sides.

PRACTICAL ADVICE

Malaysia restricts import of Kratom. Personal-use quantities of sub-threshold-THC hemp CBD may clear with declaration and COA; above-threshold or full-spectrum CBD is treated as a controlled substance.
