China's National Narcotics Control Commission added synthetic and plant-derived cannabidiol (CBD) to the country's list of Class 1 controlled psychotropic substances effective 2022. Import, possession, or use of CBD oil — regardless of THC content or country of origin — is a criminal offence under the Narcotics Control Law of the PRC. Travelers carrying CBD products risk seizure and prosecution.

Leaving China with cbd oil
CBD product export is variable across jurisdictions. Hemp-derived CBD with sub-threshold THC (0.2% EU, 0.3% US, 0% Thailand commercial) is generally exportable. Full-spectrum products above threshold THC face controlled-substance treatment under PRC Narcotics Control Law; State Council Regulations on Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substance Control. Carry the manufacturer's Certificate of Analysis (COA).
Do not bring or send CBD oil, CBD edibles, or CBD-containing cosmetics to China. Confirm current rules with China General Administration of Customs before travel.
