Japan prohibits the import of meat products by post from most countries. The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) requires inspection of all animal products. Only commercially processed products from MAFF-approved facilities in approved countries are accepted.
Do not bring or send meat products to Japan. Confirm current rules with Japan Customs (Ministry of Finance) before travel; enforcement and penalties may change.
