Egypt's Ministry of Health controls tramadol as a Schedule One narcotic under Law No. 122 of 1989 (and 2018 amendments). Personal-import by travelers requires a prior permit from the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA); arriving with tramadol without that permit can lead to confiscation, detention and prosecution. Egypt has documented active enforcement at major ports of entry, including Cairo International Airport.
