Details

Thailand requires satellite phones to be registered with the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC). Unregistered devices may be confiscated. Registration is technically possible but the process is bureaucratic and rarely pursued by short-term visitors. Enforcement in Thailand carries fines from THB 5,000 to THB 500,000 under Customs Act B.E. 2560 (2017) s.202, s.242 (typical personal cases are handled as civil infringements).
