New Zealand's Biosecurity Act 1993 requires every traveler to declare all dairy products on arrival via the Passenger Arrival Card. Commercial UHT and pasteurised retail-packaged dairy from approved countries (Australia, EU, US, UK) is generally allowed up to 10kg per person. Raw / unpasteurised milk and milk from unapproved countries is prohibited. Non-declaration triggers a NZ$400 instant infringement notice and the goods are destroyed.

Leaving New Zealand with dairy products
Origin-side, New Zealand imposes no export formality on retail dairy at personal quantities; commercial consignments require veterinary export health certification. The binding constraints are destination-side: the US, Australia, and New Zealand prohibit or tightly restrict most traveller dairy imports, and the EU bans personal meat and dairy imports from outside the bloc entirely. Shelf-stable retail-packaged items (UHT milk, hard cheese in some destinations, infant formula with the infant) fare best — check the arrival rule for the same route.
Always declare dairy items. NZ biosecurity fines can reach NZD 100,000 for deliberate non-declaration.
